Tag & Search Pages not indexed by google – implications
We found out recently that tag pages and search pages in squidoo don’t get indexed by google. So far most squidoo blogs have focused on what that means for specific squidoo pages, the kind we humans make…
The one giant in the room we missed so far is – I think – that this is REALLY bad news for those using squidoo as a place to post spammy lenses. If tag pages aren’t indexed, they aren’t getting much internal squidoo juice at all. After all: nobody is going to voluntarily link to such lenses. Nobody is going to vote on such lenses. And since the ‘related lenses’ stuff in the introduction module is only linking out to at most 6 other lenses (and high ranking lenses will do better there), low ranking spammy lenses have just about zero chance of being featured on a significant number of lenses.
Put another way: this is going to mean that squidoo is no longer a place where a lot of free ‘link juice’ just comes crawling out of the seams. No – in order for your lens to get some, you need to be noticed by – get this – humans. Which is great news.
It means that good, old fashioned PR (as in: make sure you get popular)
It means that what squidoo HQ said months ago is true: you need to get into the blogging crowd to get your lenses traffic.
It means that using squidoo to get your website traffic is only going to work if your lens is actually getting links itself.

Thanks for keeping people up to date. I’d just found your blogpost today & I’ve changed my SEO lens to reflect this change, as well as my Lens about the introduction module.
Both now link to your blogpost if I’m not mistaken
Will have to include the same info in my upcoming ebook – again with a link to your blog.
I am getting a bit tired of trying to keep up with all the changes squidoo is making this summer, including the ones that were promised but haven’t been done yet. But this change is definitely a good one for SEO savvy lensmasters.
