REAL squidoo blogs on squidtop

This post is two things: a hat tip to other squidoers on squidtop who are doing a real job blogging (as opposed to spamming or just link dropping) & also just appreciating the community.

[Oh, and it's turning into a reminder for everyone who hasn't to please personalize your squidtop blog. Get yourself a title, and a subtitle, and put links out to your lenses (or put up the RSS feed of your lenses), and create an about page. We don't want to guess who you are...]

Lake Erie has great posts on basic squidoo issues. I had a hard time picking out my favorite posts. For instance her take on the tip jar on squidoo debate. Or this very true post on how to pick a niche topic.

Brenda writes about her lenses – as most people here do. Her Six-Word Memoirs On Love and Heartbreak A Valantine’s Treat For You and Your Loved Ones is sad but true…

Does AJ require an introduction? Her series about her SEO experiment is fascinating (I’m curious to see how it turns out – SEO is not an exact science after all). But she has also recently mused about lensrank mysteries… that’s another non-exact science for us.

Among all the women we have some men here as well. Prominently squidangel Chefkeem. His post about writing for money (or rather NOT writing for money) was very inspiring.

Molly is a new kid on the block. She’s wise enough to have used the RSS widget to show us her lenses. I’ve been a bit bugged by people blogging here who give us no clue about who they are! (I’ve just started using that same widget for twitter).

RMS is one of those mystery lensmasters here – except of course she’s so well known, she can probably get away with it. For those who don’t know who she is, her blogroll gives plenty of hints. And this might be the clincher – her post about the new Giant Squids being featured at the …

Mulberry, another semi-anonymous squid… shares his her frustrations in making lenses: his friend the delete button

Squid Ink has many blogs – and she links out to them from her about page. Now that’s someone who knows how the internet works :) Her latest blogposts are very playful – a bit too much for my taste, I must confess.

Seedplanter is a great writer. Can’t be said enough. Recently she wrote about a topic also close to my heart: history.

Before I close I want to mention and expatriate of ours: Poddys (aka Tony) & Debby at Off the Record. Debby’s latest post about shopping with her daughter is hilarious.

Last but definitely not least the Fresh Squid News blog by a_willow. On that blog she links out to everybody but herself… Willow - that’s really a bit too humble.

Taking my own advice I guess I’d better link out to two of my own lenses here as well: Blogging Video tutorial and Blogging for newbies.

Thanks so much for the mention, and I am pleased you enjoyed Debbie’s post about her shopping trip. I think (although I am a bit biased of course) that she has a great way with words, and her articles are a fun read.

There are some good blogs on here, and I enjoy coming back most days to see what’s new.

Thank you Katinka! I fully agree with what you say about the “Anonymous” bloggers – please fill in your About You page, we really are interested in who you are!

The other thing the new bloggers need to do is configure their SPAM Karma settings or they will never get any comments. Mind you, given the nature of one blog I have just read it is probably just as well!

Which reminds me I need to sort out my Lens RSS feed – if only I were sure how to do it. So much still to learn!

Katinka, thanks for the mention. I appreciate your kind words!
It also served as a reminder to me that I’m overdue on writing a new blog post. I checked and the history post is from late January. Ouch!

If anyone can convince God to insert two more hours into every day, let me know. I always have too much at the end of my to-do list.

I’m one of those anonymous bloggers too. In fact, it borders on non-existent blogger, as I don’t get much time to update often. It’s on my to-do list :)

Thanks for the mention!! It’s a nice feeling when you realize you’re not totally anonymous on the internet. ;)

Yes, thanks for including me. BTW everyone I’m a female, girl, woman whatever. That’s the drawback to not using my first name!

The blogs here are mostly fun and informative, it’s great that you highlighted them.

Well, Katinka — I am expecting I know what started this post! I have to say that too often I have to work to figure out who is writing the post…hopefully, your blog will help this problem happen less frequently.

As others have said, thank you for including me. I was telling my husband tonight how I have mixed feelings about my blogs. I AM using them to promote my Squidoo lenses (to help Google find them) and I know many of you may not be interested in my ramblings about blu-ray, Anne of Green Gables, best-ever recipes or whatever even if I do try to make them interesting. My hope is that those who visit will look if they are interested in the subject and not feel obligated in any way to read my posts.

I do not know if I have an RSS feed working and will have to check that out tomorrow. Thanks for that pointer, too.

Finally, I want to say thank you to both you, Katinka and you, Christine (aka as Mulberry) for the little laugh. Christine, maybe you should consider using the picture of a female dog!?!

Hi all – glad you liked it :)

The RSS feeds for your lenses or your squidcasts can be found at squidutils.

Actually this post didn’t start out with the intention of telling you all that you should be less anonymous… It started out from a comment by AJ who noted that some of the blogs on here aren’t really blogs about squidoo, and some seem automated.

Inkserotica: I’m not that much into contests anyhow. Too tiresome.
